Huggies SUCK

That is correct, I am saying that one of the largest diaper companies, Huggies, sucks. I would normally try to split up a brand name so that it can not be found using an internet search, but trust me, I WANT this one found.

For a few days now, I have been seeing a Huggies commercial that annoys the crap out of me. It is for free diapers for a year.

Now, that sounds like a great deal, right???? I mean, I can totally use free diapers for a year, who couldn't?

Well, I guess the marketing execs at Huggies wanted a funny or cute commercial. But, instead all they did was to make an ass out of themselves.

The commercial basically says that in order to qualify all you have to do is:

- Have sperm meet egg
- Have a pregnancy glow for about nine months
- Deal with morning sickness
- Deal with people patting your belly
- Rush to the hospital
- Deliver your miracle

Yup, that is correct, it says you would only qualify if you BIRTH a child. Yes, I understand that the majority of women will actually give birth to their children. And, yes, I did read the actual rules of the contest and it does NOT say that you actually have to give birth.

But, the commercial itselfs leads people to believe that if you choose to have a child any other way than birthing that child, then you do not qualify for the contest.

It really hit a cord with me. I find it annoying. My husband thinks that I am overly sensitive about it.

I did e-mail the company, only to get a super canned response. The same response that others have received as well.

I was not able to find the video on-line...so since I have DVR, I figured I would just rewind when I saw the commercial. Well, it did not take long until I saw it again.

Here is the video, please note that it took many many tries to not have a yelling child in the background..this is the best I got. Please excuse the yelling child in the back, he is just as mad as I am lol

  1. Not only that, but Huggies suck as diapers in general! Every time I would put one on my daughter, it would leak. EVERY TIME! My sisters have had the same issue. I just stuck with Pampers

  2. I was just going to say what Susan wrote. Huggies do suck!! Every stinking one leaked!!!!

Pampers are great. And honestly, I've fallen in love with the Target brand...half the price of Pampers and they work just as great!!

  3. Wow, I'm surprised how insensitive that commercial is. You would think that someone would have realized that it doesn't come across well. I do actually use and like their diapers, but I'm glad you called attention to that commercial.

  4. Wow. I just saw this commercial tonight and I was APPAULED. I too immediately emailed Huggies - but I'm not holding my breath.

I wanted to create an email protest about this campaign with online friends, and in doing so started looking for the commercial on the internet - and your site is the only place I've found it.

Thanks for posting it. Know that you have an equally "sensitive" or "appauled" ;-) sister out here.

I might give your blog site out if people ask to see the video ... hope you don't mind.

  5. I am SO with you! I found your site trying to find out if I was the only one mad! I'm still waiting for a reply to my email to Huggies...

I was appalled on my behalf ( as an adoptive mom of 2) and for all of the women I know who have struggled with the heartache of infertility or miscarriage and have turned to surrogacy or adoption to reach their dream of being a Mom. What a blatantly ridiculous ad campaign for a product NOT directly related to pregnancy. Couldn't they have emphasized the things all mothers share, like tantrums, sleepless nights, being a human jungle gym, etc., rather than invalidate all non-birthmothers? You'd think they would be more sensitive to the reality of families today.

Best wishes to you and your family,
    Sarah in Ohio
